How to stop procrastinating

What one week leaves you: a log, in your words.
The short answer
Two things are running. The first is a condition: real life starts once the project ships, once things calm down. The mechanism renews itself: you adapt to whatever you get within weeks, and "almost there" reinstalls at the next milestone, so the start line travels with you.
The second is smaller and daily. You decided in calm; the moment arrived in weather, and in the weather you decided again from scratch. Almost everything you do repeatedly is cued by where you are and what just happened, not by what you want, so the contest at 7:10 on a Wednesday is not your intention against the old move. It is the old move against nothing. Tonight, put something in the room. Name the moment as a place and a time, name a move you could finish in sixty seconds, write the pair by hand, and leave it where the moment happens.
Sound familiar?
Tick the ones that are you.
Two or more and the week is worth ten minutes. Nothing you tick is stored.

Bruno has a guitar in the corner of the bedroom and a rule he has never said out loud but obeys daily: he does not deserve the fun stuff yet. Playing badly on a Tuesday feels frivolous while the flat is a mess. So the guitar waits for the evening when everything else is handled. It has waited three years, and the ache he feels passing it almost counts as virtue.
In April he has a week off, nothing owed to anyone: the exact conditions he has been deferring toward. Day one, he cleans the flat. Day two, he empties the inbox. Standing in the quiet he was waiting for, he does not touch it. Not that day, not all week. At 1 a.m. on the last night it lands: someday may not be a date. It might be where he stores the things he is afraid to actually have.
From The Someday Illusion.
The turn
This is not a failure of willpower, and a better plan will not fix it, because a calendar entry is just someday with better handwriting. The condition was never the thing.

Ask which goal you actually hit in the last two years, and how many days it felt like enough. Most people count in days.
What works is smaller than motivation. You stop re-deciding. The forty small decisions that wear you through by Thursday get made once, on paper, and the moment does the remembering when it arrives. You do not have to want it then. You wanted it once, and that was the deciding.
Why it is called Keel
The part of the boat you never see.
A keel sits under the waterline. Nobody admires it from the dock. But when the wind hits, it is the reason a boat stays upright and holds its course instead of going wherever it is pushed.
What it costs
A week free. Then one payment.
- Ten minutes in your browser
- Six days on WhatsApp
- Your first log, sealed
- Ten more patterns, one a week
- The coach on WhatsApp, every day
- Nothing renews
Parts Two to Four are $199 each, and each one opens when you finish the part before. Finish any part and Practice is $20 a month: the coach and spaced repetition over what you have already done. It does not unlock a new part.
What you can count on
Four promises, kept by how it is built.
Private by design
Nobody reads your logs. A partner you invite sees only which week you are on.
Nothing renews
Part One is one payment. No subscription, no auto-renew, no countdown.
Honest about what it is not
Not therapy. If what comes up is more than a pattern, Keel points you to real help.

One question a day, and your own words back. No feed, no streak, no leaderboard. I answer every message and take the first ten team calls myself. If session one shows you nothing true in ten minutes, close the tab; it kept nothing.
Krish, founder
Why do I procrastinate on things I actually want to do?
Because wanting something at a distance is comfortable and having it up close is not. A thing you love, done badly on a Tuesday, risks finding out you are not who you hoped. Deferral protects that, and it does it politely, with reasons that all sound like responsibility: after this is handled, when there is proper time, once things are calmer.
Is procrastination just laziness?
No. Lazy people are not usually exhausted, and procrastination is exhausting: it runs a background job of avoiding, rehearsing and re-deciding all day. What looks like doing nothing is a full schedule of not doing one thing, and the tiredness is real even though the task has not moved.
How do I start when I have no motivation?
Do not wait for it to arrive. Motivation is the thing that shows up after the first minute, not before it, and the contest in the moment is between the old move and nothing. Put something in the room: a specific cue you would recognise without having to notice, and one move you can finish inside a minute.
What makes a plan actually hold?
Two tests. Ask whether you would recognise the moment while it was happening, without having to notice that you should notice, and whether you could make the move in the next sixty seconds with nothing further to work out. "When I have time, I will be better with money" fails both. "When the salary text lands, I move the money before I open anything else" passes.
Can chronic procrastination change?
It changes at the level of one moment at a time, which is slower than a resolution and far more durable. Nothing about your character has to be rebuilt first. Take the thing you have postponed longest, do a genuine ten minutes of it tonight, and make those minutes irreversible: a message sent, a class booked, a deposit paid.
