Why do I self sabotage
Nothing is working against you. Something is being built, nightly, by you.
Then one message a day on WhatsApp, ten minutes, for a week. Free.
- No account, no card
- Free week, then $199 once
- Private by design
What one week leaves you: a log, in your words.
The short answer
Self sabotage is rarely self-destruction. It is a set of unnoticed decisions wearing a costume called "just how I am". The bad morning does not start at 7 a.m. It starts at 11:40 the night before, with where the phone gets put down. Traced backwards, most of what looks like a flaw turns out to be a design, renewed by you most nights.
Two things keep it in place. One is understanding instead of changing: insight is the consolation prize, and the pattern you can name mid-argument while still running it is proof that naming is not doing. The other is rearrangement, the new job or city or plan that moves the furniture and leaves the house standing. Tonight, trace one repeating bad outcome backwards, the way you trace a leak, until you reach the first small decision that is yours. Change that one, tonight, while it is still small.
Sound familiar?
Tick the ones that are you.
Two or more and the week is worth ten minutes. Nothing you tick is stored.
I call it just how I am, and I renew it every night when I put the phone by the bed.
What I built one unnoticed choice at a time, I can rebuild the same way.

Vikram describes himself as "bad with mornings" the way you describe eye colour: fixed at birth, nothing to be done. His mornings back the claim up daily. Snooze three times, skip breakfast, arrive at his desk already behind.
One night, unable to sleep, he traces a single bad morning backwards, the way you trace a leak. It does not start at 7 a.m. It starts at 11:40 the night before, when he carries his phone to the nightstand. He pauses there, because he can suddenly see the moment as a fork: the charger could live anywhere in the flat, and every night he sets it within arm's reach of his own worst instincts. Then the 1 a.m. scrolling. Then the alarm, set for the last survivable minute. Lying there, he feels the phrase change weight. It is not a diagnosis. It is a design, and the builder's handwriting is his.
From Authorship.
The turn
A diagnosis offers nothing to do. A design does.

Anything you built one unnoticed choice at a time can be rebuilt the same way, and it starts smaller than people expect: the phone charges in the kitchen now.
The thing to be precise about is that this is not blame. Blame is a verdict about the past and, in a stuck situation, usually has a true answer that changes nothing. The other question, where is my hand on this now, has dozens of answers. A person waiting for the situation to change has one move. A person who can find their hand in it is back in a game they had quietly stopped playing.
Why it is called Keel
The part of the boat you never see.
A keel sits under the waterline. Nobody admires it from the dock. But when the wind hits, it is the reason a boat stays upright and holds its course instead of going wherever it is pushed.
What it costs
A week free. Then one payment.
- Ten minutes in your browser
- Six days on WhatsApp
- Your first log, sealed
- Ten more patterns, one a week
- The coach on WhatsApp, every day
- Nothing renews
Parts Two to Four are $199 each, and each one opens when you finish the part before. Finish any part and Practice is $20 a month: the coach and spaced repetition over what you have already done. It does not unlock a new part.
What you can count on
Four promises, kept by how it is built.
Private by design
Nobody reads your logs. A partner you invite sees only which week you are on.
Nothing renews
Part One is one payment. No subscription, no auto-renew, no countdown.
Honest about what it is not
Not therapy. If what comes up is more than a pattern, Keel points you to real help.
Built on published work
94 sources, from Heidegger to Frankl. The whole bibliography is public.
One question a day, and your own words back. No feed, no streak, no leaderboard. I answer every message and take the first ten team calls myself. If session one shows you nothing true in ten minutes, close the tab; it kept nothing.
Krish, founder
What is self sabotage?
In practice it is a repeating result you say you do not want, produced by decisions you do not count as decisions. Nobody sits down to wreck their own week. They stay up an extra hour, skip the message, take the third job with the same complaint attached, and each of those feels at the time like nothing at all.
Why do I sabotage things when they are finally going well?
Because the going-well version asks you to be someone the old design was never built for, and the old design does not need deciding; it runs on its own. The tell is repetition. When the same ending keeps arriving through different circumstances, the circumstances were never the cause.
I know exactly why I do it. Why does knowing not help?
Because understanding is what you get to keep when you do not change. Explaining a pattern well produces the sensation of progress without the boredom of the reps, and it is one of the most comfortable ways to avoid being in the room with the thing. Name one day in the last month that went differently because of something you understood.
Will a fresh start fix it?
Sometimes, and mostly not. A new job, city or plan is rearrangement: the furniture moves and the house stays. Every rearrangement costs a year or two before the pattern reappears, which is expensive tuition for information you can get in an evening by reading your last three fresh starts and finding the word that repeats.
Can this actually change?
Yes, and not by becoming a different person. It changes at the level of one small decision, made once, in a place you can see it: the charger, the alarm, the message sent on Monday instead of Friday. Small is not a compromise here. Small is where the design was assembled in the first place.
